Municipal Profile

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality is one of the three municipalities situated within the uThukela District in the KwaZulu-Natal province. It was established by the amalgamation of the Imbabazane and uMtshezi Local Municipalities in August 2016.

The municipality constitutes a third of the district and the N3 National Road traverses the municipality. The majority of the municipality’s population is concentrated in urban and farming areas, but there are a few patches of high-density settlements within the informal areas. The municipality boasts well-established industrial, commercial and residential areas, as well as rich agricultural farmlands.

  • COVID-19 INTERVENTION PROGRAMME

    The Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality will be rolling out the Covid-19 intervention programme with effect from the 01/04/2020 to the 02/04/2020.

    This follows the establishment of the Local Command Team on the 30/04/2020 as per the Premiers attempt to reduce the spread of corona virus.
