The Honorable Mayor of INkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Cllr. M.T Myeza on the 25th of January 2023 visited Colita area in ward 10 under Cllr. E Lite. The purpose of his visit was to handover a bridge to the local residents of Colita.

Ward Councillor, Cllr. E Lite in her opening words expressed her sense of gratitude to witness the opening of the Colita Bridge, since the issue of this bridge has been a thorn in the flesh for so many years that the residents in Colita have been crying out loud about as they had to go through dangerous makeshift means to cross the river putting young learners studying in Estcourt Primary school in serious danger as they would always cross the same river to and from school daily.

Her sincere words of thanks went to the Department of Cogta and the Honourable Mayor for making this project priority.

The Honourable Mayor Cllr. M.T Myeza said this bridge is the project that was close to his heart because of its close proximity to a school. As for him knowing that this the Colita bridge is used by learners every day always while it was not in a good state left community of Colita frustrated when summer approaches. It was for this reason that the Mayor was closely Monitoring this project to be completed before the official opening of the academic year 2023.

Therefore the 25 of January 2023 marked a historic leap to a great start by handing over this bridge to the community of ward 10. Cllr. MT Myeza was quoted as saying ” I am pleading with you to take good care of this bridge because it is your property, let’ it not vandalized.

The jovial Principal of Estcourt Primary school thanked the local Councillor Lite and the local Mayor for making sure that this project is finally completed, she stressed that ,it will make is easy for learners to go to school without any fear anymore.

Part of his entourage the Honourable Mayor was accompied by the Deputy Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele Cllr. N.S Dladla, the Speaker of ILM Cllr S.W Khumalo, Ward 10 Councilor Cllr E. Lite, MPAC chairperson, Cllr. U. Chetty, Cllr. P. Kok, Cllr. SE. Mchunu, Cllr. L. Vilakazi, Cllr L. Mnculwane, Cllr. M. Madinane, Cllr. ST. Mchunu, Cllr. MW. Mbatha and Cllr.GT. Mnikathi, the Municipal Manager, Mr. S.B Mthembu and Director Corporate Services Mr. HB Chotoo all formed part of the delegation to this momentous activity in ward 10.
